saSecond Grade Religion

     Welcome to Second Grade Religion!
    Mrs. Katherine DiCaprio

During the week of September 11th the second grade will begin to review the first lesson in their Religion textbooks and activity books. The objective this week is learning that God is their Father, who loves them very much.  We will review the prayer the "Our Father" and learn that God made us, God is our friend, God is the all-perfect being, God is in heaven, in Church, on earth, and everywhere, and God knows everything.

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Second Grade Religion Class!  I am looking forward to teaching your child Religion this year!

This year will be a continuation of your child's growth in their Catholic Faith as they  prepare for the Sacraments of their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.  The second grade student text is Jesus Our Life.  The second grade curriculum is an introduction to Bible stories and teachings of the Faith.
I am very excited to be working with our Canons and Mrs. Fitzgerald to enrich and be a part of your child's growth and faith as they learn more about Jesus, the Church, and prepare for their First Holy Communion.

Your child will have daily Religion lessons with homework assignments given once or twice a week.  November 1st is All Saints Day.   The second grade will choose a Saint to study and write about for their project.  I will send home the project information in the beginning of October.  This is a wonderful and very special project because each student not only learns about their favorite Saint they will also dress up as their Saint as well.

The second grade has a very special part in the Christmas Pageant. We will work with Miss Fran to prepare for the re-enactment of the birth of Jesus.  I will send home the information at the end of October.

You can always contact me by email, a note, or by leaving a message with the office when you have a question or would like to speak to me.  I am looking forward to working with you this year to ensure that your child has a great year in the second grade.

Sincerely,

Mrs. DiCaprio
